The Sunday Bundle is a list of my best recommendations from the week! Soon to be a new offering for paid subscribers. If you like what you see, consider upgrading your subscription with a note about which recs you’re most looking forward to! :)

Literary Fiction, Sci-Fi and Fantasy, 320 pages, 1987

I’ve just finished Dawn by Octavia E. Butler, and holy shit!!! I’ve never read anything like this. I’m letting the story wash over me, which is so immersive. I’m completely overwhelmed by this complex, yet straight-to-the-point book. Butler has a talent for consuming you into the story.

The main character, Lilith, wakes up from a centuries long sleep on a spaceship after a benevolent alien race has rescued her and other survivors of a nuclear war. Lilith is smart, she knows the Onkali will ask her to give them something in return for her rescue, but what will it be? How much is she willing to sacrifice for the salvation of humanity?
