The Cherry Bomb book club is for readers who: 1. love to read meaningful books about people but still need a page-turner! And 2. don’t always want to read alone!
Well, hi, that’s me, Amani Hope, the host of this here book club! We strictly read contemporary fiction and will mostly be reading BIPOC and LGBTQ books, and books written by women. We admire authors with a rebellious edge.
We love every genre, especially magical realism, sci-fi, fantasy, gothic, coming-of-age, and romance, but we lean towards the literary side of things.
If you’re new to the club, you can subscribe for free to join and access club chats on the Substack app. Message your thoughts while you read!
(Still lost? See more instructions on how to use the app at the end of this post!)
The Cherry Bomb book club is an online monthly book club, but if the club grows big maybe one day we’ll have in-person meetups in the Bay Area!
Here’s a list of the books we’ve read so far! If you like what you see, I hope you join our next read. I’d love to hear your thoughts and chat books 👀!

Confused by the app? Here’s how to get started
Download the app by clicking this link or the button below. Substack Chat is now available on both iOS and Android.
Open the app and tap the Chat icon. It looks like two bubbles in the bottom bar, and you’ll see a row for my chat inside.
That’s it! If you have any issues, check out Substack’s FAQ or email me (readlikemad@substack.com).
How long do we have to read it? All May?
Ohhh I've been meaning to read this!
